Privacy Policy

No sneaky nonsense.

Polaris is a little writing archive, not a data-hoarding empire in a trench coat. This page explains what may be collected, why it exists, and how to tell the browser to stop being so enthusiastic.

What this site is

Polaris is a personal archive of writing. You can read things, search the archive, install it like a small app, and maybe receive notifications if that feature is enabled and you say yes.

What may be collected

  • Basic usage information, such as page views, browser type, approximate region, device type, and referrer.
  • Technical logs that hosting providers and browsers normally create, such as IP address, request time, and the page requested.
  • A notification token if you allow push notifications. That token helps send notifications to your browser, not read your thoughts.

What stays on your device

Polaris uses a service worker and browser cache so pages can open faster and some content can work offline. That cached data lives in your browser. You can clear it from your browser settings at any time.

Tools involved

This site may use Firebase services, including Firebase Analytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Firebase is operated by Google, so their own policies may apply to data processed through those tools.

What I do not do

  • No selling personal data.
  • No ad targeting.
  • No account profiles.
  • No pretending a button is harmless while secretly building a dossier.

Your controls

You can block analytics with your browser settings or content blocker. You can deny or revoke notifications in your browser. You can clear cached site data whenever you want. The archive should still be readable, just with fewer little conveniences.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes too. The goal is to keep this page honest, readable, and allergic to legal fog machines.
